Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. AU accepts self-employed applicants aged 25 to 65 and salaried applicants aged 21 to 60. Its page does not ask for proof of business ownership.

This page is about AU Small Finance Bank's ABC Biz, issued with Aditya Birla Finance. It is not Kotak's Biz card, and it is not its siblings ABC Nxt / Flex or ABC Pro.

  • 10 points per ₹200 on grocery, utilities, education and government payments.
  • A ₹49 + GST fee every month, reversed in any statement cycle where you spend ₹10,000.
  • AU does not publish what a point is worth.

A monthly fee instead of an annual one

Most cards charge once a year. ABC Biz charges ₹49 + GST, about ₹58, on every statement. Spend ₹10,000 in that cycle and the fee for that month is reversed. It resets each month, so a strong March does not cover a slow April. If you never hit ₹10,000, the worst case is ₹588 + GST, about ₹694, a year.

AU's page does not say whether fuel, rent or BBPS payments count toward the ₹10,000. Assume they may not.

The bills that earn 10X

The card is built around the payments small business owners and households make every month anyway. Here is one month:

  • ₹6,000 on utilities and groceries earns 300 points.
  • ₹1,000 of other spend on the 1st to 5th earns 20 points (4 per ₹200).
  • ₹3,000 of other spend later in the month earns 30 points (2 per ₹200).

That is 350 points. Users of other AU Rewardz cards report about ₹0.20 to ₹0.25 a point, so roughly ₹70 to ₹88, and the fee is reversed because you crossed ₹10,000. Treat that value as an estimate.

Pay utilities on the biller's own site. BBPS payments, EMI, cash, fuel, jewellery and rent earn nothing. Insurance appears on AU's page both as a 10X category and as an exclusion, so confirm before paying a large premium.

Redeeming without losing money

You need at least 200 points, and each redemption costs ₹99 + GST. Redeeming 200 points, worth about ₹40 to ₹50, would cost more than it returns. Let points build to a few thousand first. They last 2 years from the statement month.

Who should apply, and who should not

Apply if you reliably spend ₹10,000 or more a month on the card and a good share of it is bills, groceries or school fees. The 2 railway lounge visits a quarter and the 1% fuel surcharge waiver on ₹400 to ₹5,000 fills are small extras.

Skip it if your spend swings below ₹10,000, if you pay overseas suppliers (3.5% forex), or if you need credit card UPI, since AU's page names no RuPay variant. Real user discussion of this card is thin, so there is little holder feedback to go on yet. For other options, see Monzy's list of business credit cards for startups.
