Frequently Asked Questions

No. Both use the Kiwi app, but AU Kosmo is issued by AU Small Finance Bank and Kiwi by YES Bank, with different approval processes and limits.

AU KOSMO is AU Small Finance Bank's version of the Kiwi credit card. It is not the YES Bank Kiwi card; both run through the Kiwi app, but different banks issue them and approve them differently.

Is the AU Kosmo credit card good?

For one job, yes: it is a lifetime-free RuPay card you can link to UPI and use for everyday Scan & Pay. There is no joining fee and no annual fee, ever.

The two things that make Reddit users unhappy are the reward rate and the application. AU's page says you earn Kiwi rewards on eligible UPI, online, POS and contactless spends, but it does not print a percentage. Users report about 1.5% on UPI Scan & Pay through the Kiwi app, and less on regular card spends. Rewards are credited on your statement date.

The Neon question

Kiwi sells a paid add-on called Neon. Users say it raises the rate to around 2%, with up to 5% tied to annual spend milestones; one thread asks whether that means 5% on everything after ₹1.5 lakh a year. Our data does not include the Neon fee or its official terms, and several holders say they felt misled by the advertised rates.

Do the maths before you subscribe. Take your yearly eligible UPI spend, multiply by the extra rate Neon adds, and subtract the fee. At ₹1.5 lakh a year, every extra 0.5% is worth ₹750. If the result is small, stay on the free tier.

Getting approved by AU

This is where the loudest complaints sit. Users describe:

  • Rejections marked "home verification failed", sometimes twice.
  • Little communication while the application waits, and templated replies from support.
  • Approval only after escalating, in one case to the RBI Ombudsman.
  • Starting limits as low as ₹50,000, even for people with higher limits elsewhere.

Others report the opposite: applied through the Kiwi app, finished video KYC the same morning and got approval by evening. Keep your address and employer details consistent across PAN, Aadhaar and the form, save every reference number, and do not reapply repeatedly. A recent thread also says the virtual card is free but the physical card is chargeable; AU's page does not mention this, so ask before you order one.

Smaller details

  • Fuel surcharge waiver: 1% on fills of ₹400 to ₹5,000, up to ₹100.
  • No lounge access of any kind.
  • Link it to Kiwi, BHIM, AU 0101 or other UPI apps, but users say the reported 1.5% applies through Kiwi.

Where AU Kosmo fits in your wallet

Apply if you want a free RuPay card for daily UPI and you are patient enough to sit through AU's process. Check your first two statements to see what you actually earn.

Skip it if you want a published reward rate, a high starting limit or quick support. For a wider view of UPI cards, see the Kiwi credit card review on our blog, which covers the YES Bank version.
