Frequently Asked Questions

8 points per ₹100 online, 12 abroad, 4 offline, a 500-point bonus for ₹5,000 spent between the 1st and 5th each month, railway lounges and conditional airport lounges.

This is the Xcite Ultra from AU Small Finance Bank's SwipeUp programme. It is not Xcite Ace, which pays milestone cashback at the same ₹749 fee, not the cheaper Xcite, and not Axis Bank's ACE.

Is AU Xcite Ultra lifetime free?

On AU's standard terms, no. The card carries a ₹749 + taxes fee, and AU's page implies it applies from year one, though it does not list a separate joining fee. From year two the fee is waived if you spent ₹2 lakh on retail in the previous card year, about ₹16,700 a month.

So why do Reddit threads call it LTF? Several holders say they got it lifetime free through targeted or card-to-card offers. If AU offers you Ultra free, get that in writing. If you are applying cold, budget for ₹749 + GST.

The four earn tiers

Points are earned per ₹100:

  • International: 12 points.
  • Online: 8 points.
  • Offline: 4 points.
  • Utility, telecom and insurance: 1 point. AU's exclusion list also names utilities, so confirm before you pay bills with it.
  • Cash, education, EMI, fuel, government, rent and wallet loads: nothing.

AU does not state what a point is worth in our data. If it is ₹0.25, as on some other AU cards, online works out to 2% and international to 3%, but treat that as an illustration until you see a real redemption. Forex markup is also not confirmed by AU, and it eats into that international rate.

The 1st to 5th trick

Spend ₹5,000 on retail between the 1st and 5th of each month and you get 500 bonus points. That is 6,000 points a year just for timing a purchase. Put a month's online shopping on the card early: ₹5,000 earns 400 points from the 8X tier plus the 500 bonus, 900 points in total.

There is also an annual milestone: 5,000 points on ₹2.5 lakh of retail spend in a card year.

What changed for lounges

Until April 2026, the 2 domestic airport lounge visits a quarter came with no condition. From 10 April 2026, you only get them after spending ₹50,000 in the previous quarter. Railway lounges are unchanged: 8 a year, up to 2 per quarter. The fuel surcharge waiver is 1% on fills of ₹400 to ₹5,000, up to ₹100 per cycle.

Should Xcite Ultra be your AU card?

Ultra suits you if most of your spend is online, you can plan a ₹5,000 purchase into the first five days of each month, and you will spend ₹2 lakh a year to keep it free. One holder calls it underrated for gold and jewellery purchases.

Pick something else if you mainly want lounge access, since the new ₹50,000 gate makes visits harder to earn, or if you need UPI, because it is a Visa card. We have no full sentiment report on Ultra yet. AU's cashback sibling is reviewed in why the AU Xcite Ace card works.
