Frequently Asked Questions

₹12,500 + GST as a joining fee and the same each year, about ₹14,750 with tax. The renewal fee is waived if you spend ₹25 lakh in the preceding year.

What the Magnus devaluation actually did

Magnus devaluation is searched more than anything else about this card, about 7,300 times a month. Here is the short answer. This page covers the standard Axis Bank Magnus, not Magnus for Burgundy, which is a separate variant for Axis Burgundy banking customers with a different fee.

Three things changed, according to our records and users:

  • Rewards moved to a slab. You now earn 12 EDGE points per ₹200 on spend up to ₹1.5 lakh in a calendar month, and 35 points per ₹200 only on the spend above that. The 35-point tier is limited to your credit limit plus ₹1.5 lakh.
  • Transfers got worse. Users report the standard Magnus transfer ratio to airline and hotel partners fell to 5:2, half of what Burgundy holders get. Our CMS also records some partners removed and ratios reduced.
  • Costs went up. Our CMS notes a redemption fee and higher interest, with changes dated May 2025 and 2 April 2026.

The ₹1.5 lakh line, in rupees

Everything about Magnus now depends on whether you cross ₹1.5 lakh a month. At ₹0.20 a point, our working value for simple redemptions:

  • ₹1,00,000 in a month: 6,000 points, about ₹1,200. That is 1.2%.
  • ₹2,00,000 in a month: 9,000 points on the first ₹1.5 lakh plus 8,750 on the next ₹50,000. That is 17,750 points, about ₹3,550, or roughly 1.8%.

Transfers to travel partners can be worth more than ₹0.20 a point, but check the current partner list before you collect points for a specific trip. Insurance, gold and jewellery, fuel and rent earn nothing.

₹14,750 a year, and what comes back

The joining and annual fees are ₹12,500 + GST each, about ₹14,750. In the first year, a welcome voucher worth ₹12,500 (Luxe, The Postcard Hotels or Yatra) offsets most of the joining fee. Users say the Yatra option is for a one-way flight, so read the voucher terms. The renewal fee is waived only if you spend ₹25 lakh in the preceding year.

At the 12-point rate you would need about ₹12 lakh of yearly spend just to earn back the fee. That is why users with lower spends call the standard card hard to justify, and why one holder complained that it came to around ₹36,000 after taxes, with no help from customer care.

Lounges: unlimited abroad, unclear at home

International lounges are unlimited through Priority Pass, with 4 guest visits a year. Domestic access is not stated on the product page, and users report a ₹50,000 quarterly spend requirement. Do not plan around unlimited domestic visits until you confirm the current Axis terms. Fuel gets a 1% surcharge waiver on ₹400 to ₹4,000 fills, up to ₹400 a month.

Should you get the standard Magnus in 2026?

Only if you reliably spend well above ₹1.5 lakh a month on the card and use Travel EDGE or transfers well. Above that line the card still earns strongly.

If your spend is lower, users point to the Axis Bank Atlas Credit Card or a lower-fee card instead. If you bank with Axis at the Burgundy level, look at Magnus for Burgundy separately. For a fuller holder view, read our Axis Magnus review and the wider 2026 devaluation wave.
