Frequently Asked Questions

10X points at departmental and apparel stores, 1,500 bonus points on ₹30,000 spend per cycle, ₹150 off Swiggy twice a month and 2 domestic lounge visits a quarter. The welcome offer is 5,000 points on ₹1,000 spend in 30 days.

REWARDS or Neo: which Axis card to take

Axis often offers REWARDS and Neo side by side, sometimes both lifetime free, so this is usually the first choice you face. Users who have held both put it simply: take Neo if you order on Zomato and Blinkit and want RuPay UPI, and take REWARDS if you order on Swiggy and shop at departmental or apparel stores.

This page covers the plain Axis Bank REWARDS card. It is not ACE, Select or Privilege. Many holders also got it automatically when their Citi Rewards card moved to Axis.

What 2 points per ₹125 actually pays

The spend unit is ₹125, not ₹100, and one EDGE REWARD Point is worth ₹0.20. So the base rate is about 0.32%, which is low. The useful parts sit on top of it:

  • 20 points per ₹125 (10X) at departmental and apparel stores, about 3.2%.
  • 1,500 bonus points every statement cycle in which your net spend reaches ₹30,000.
  • ₹150 off a Swiggy order of ₹500 or more, twice a month.
  • 2 domestic lounge visits a quarter. Our record says you may need ₹50,000 of spend in the previous quarter first, so confirm before you travel.
  • 5,000 welcome points (₹1,000) if you spend ₹1,000 within 30 days.

Fuel, transport and tolls, utilities and insurance earn nothing.

The ₹30,000 milestone is the real card

Put exactly ₹30,000 of ordinary spend on the card in a cycle and you earn 480 base points plus 1,500 milestone points. That is 1,980 points, about ₹396, or roughly 1.3%. Holders on Reddit land on the same range, 1% to 1.32%.

Spend ₹29,000 and you get only the base points, about ₹93. The milestone resets every cycle, so ₹25,000 one month and ₹35,000 the next earns one bonus, not two. If your spend swings, shift a bill or two so each cycle crosses the line.

Do this for twelve cycles and you also clear the ₹2 lakh fee waiver without trying.

If you came over from Citi Rewards

A major complaint in our sentiment sample comes from migrated Citi users. They report the fee waiver going from ₹30,000 a year to ₹2 lakh (the ₹2 lakh rule applies to cards issued from 1 March 2023), and a ₹1,000 + GST renewal fee appeared on cards that felt free before. If your Axis welcome letter or MITC says lifetime free, keep that letter. If it does not, users do ask customer care for a lifetime-free conversion, but our sources do not show how often that works.

Users also note that Axis caps most customers at three credit cards, so ask yourself whether REWARDS deserves one of those slots over Airtel Axis Bank.

Getting fair value from EDGE points

Weak redemption value is the top user complaint, raised in 8 threads. The rule is simple: value every catalogue item at ₹0.20 a point. 10,000 points should buy about ₹2,000 of vouchers. Anything that works out lower is a bad deal. Some holders also use points for small food orders. Redeem before you close the card.

Is Axis REWARDS worth paying for?

Keep it if you hold it lifetime free, use both Swiggy discounts each month and shop at departmental stores. In that case it is a solid side card that also gives you Axis bank-sale offers.

Do not pay ₹1,000 + GST for it if you spend under ₹30,000 a month on mixed retail. At ₹10,000 a month you would earn about ₹380 a year in points, well short of the fee. A cashback card like Cashback SBI Card does more with less effort.
