Cashback SBI Credit CardIndusInd's lifetime-free digital credit card on the American Express network, issued instantly through the IndusInd app. It earns points per transaction of ₹500 or more.
American Express is only the network here. Your limit, bill, rewards and support all belong to IndusInd. Reviews of Amex-issued cards such as SmartEarn or MRCC do not apply to this one.
Points depend on how many qualifying transactions you make in a statement cycle:
So the amount does not matter once you clear ₹500. Here is a realistic month: 20 purchases of ₹500 each, ₹10,000 in total, earns 16 + 48 + 100 = 164 points, about ₹57, or 0.57%. Put the same ₹10,000 into one payment and you get 4 points, or ₹1.40. A ₹50,000 laptop earns the same ₹1.40.
Points are redeemed against your card outstanding at ₹0.35 each. In the 12th month you earn 2X points if the card was active in each of the previous 11 months.
IndusInd describes this as 5% annually, and users say it is the most misleading line in the pitch. If it is worked out by the number of days you pay before the due date, which matches how users describe it, paying a ₹10,000 bill 20 days early earns about ₹10,000 × 5% × 20 ÷ 365, or ₹27. Users estimate the real return at under 0.2% of spend. Treat it as a small extra.
This is the dealbreaker users raise most. If you already hold an IndusInd card, users report that accepting ePay splits your existing limit across both cards, and that closing ePay later does not merge the limit back. A lower limit on your main card also raises your utilisation. Ask IndusInd, in writing, how much limit ePay will take and whether it comes back on closure.
Two practical points. Amex cards use a 4-digit CVV, and users report checkout errors on apps such as Zomato that only accept three digits. And not every Indian merchant takes Amex, so carry a Visa, Mastercard or RuPay card as backup. No lounge access is listed.
Take ePay if you do not hold another IndusInd card and want a free Amex-network card purely for sale-season discounts. The welcome extras are minor: 3 months of Zomato Gold once in the first year, and Times Prime if you spend ₹2 lakh in a year.
Skip it if you already rely on an IndusInd card such as IndusInd Legend and need its full limit, or if you want a daily rewards card. Our guide to American Express in India covers the Amex-issued cards users compare it with.
