HDFC Millennia Credit CardSwiggy orders
Swiggy HDFC Bank Credit CardCommon HDFC upgrade offer
HDFC MoneyBack Plus Credit CardHDFC does not publish one; it depends on your income and credit profile. Users commonly report starting limits of ₹10,000 to ₹25,000 that rise slowly.
HDFC values one Freedom CashPoint at ₹0.15 on its stated redemption options. Every other number on this card follows from that.
So ₹5,000 of Swiggy and Uber plus ₹10,000 of other spends in a month earns 250 + 50 = 300 CashPoints, roughly ₹45. Users also report a fee when redeeming. Freedom is not a rewards card, and HDFC's own valuation says so.
Users are clear about the real reason: Freedom is a core HDFC card, not a co-brand. Holding it builds your HDFC history and, in time, users say it leads to upgrade offers for cards like Millennia or Regalia Gold. It also counts for HDFC instant discounts in big Amazon and Flipkart sales. Many users report getting it lifetime free through pre-approved offers or Paytm.
One rule users flag: if you already hold an HDFC co-brand card, a direct application for a core card may be blocked, which is why some take Freedom through Paytm first.
The joining and annual fees are ₹500 + GST each, and the annual fee is waived if you spend ₹50,000 in the year. Fuel gets a 1% surcharge waiver on transactions of ₹400 to ₹5,000, capped at ₹250 per statement cycle. There is an extra 10% off on Swiggy Dineout, subject to HDFC's terms.
Interest, cash withdrawal and late payment charges are not in our verified data. Read the HDFC MITC before you use the card for a cash advance, which is one of the most expensive things you can do on any credit card.
Lounge access is a common search for this card, and the answer is no: Freedom has no domestic or international lounge visits and no milestone that unlocks them. If lounges matter to you, you will need a different card; check the current lounge terms of any HDFC upgrade before you take it.
This is the loudest complaint about Freedom. Users report starting limits between ₹10,000 and ₹25,000 that stay put for years, even with on-time payments, and paid upgrade offers to MoneyBack+ that come without a limit increase. One recent thread describes moving from ₹32,000 to ₹36,000 and then being upgraded with the same limit. HDFC does not publish a rule for increases, so all you can do is use the card regularly, pay in full and watch for system offers.
Take it if it is lifetime free and you want a first HDFC core card to build history and catch sale discounts. Keep it as a stepping stone, not a daily driver.
Skip it, or plan to move on quickly, if you want rewards on everyday spend. The HDFC Millennia Credit Card is the upgrade most users aim for, and our Millennia Reddit review explains why.
