Frequently Asked Questions

You need to be an Indian resident aged 18 to 70. You apply in the Google Pay app, with a paperless process and a digital card issued upon approval. Axis decides your credit limit after checking your credit profile. A healthy CIBIL score and a regular income will improve your chances of approval.

TL;DR

  • The Google Pay Flex Axis Bank Credit Card is a simple entry point into credit-card payments through Google Pay.
  • It is the combination of an app-led application and a low-friction digital start. However, its rewards are weak against competing UPI cards and come with low limits.

So, this is best treated as a starter and convenience card, not as a primary rewards engine.

Why beginners may like this credit card

An app-first application: Its pre-approved or in-app journeys feel easier than a traditional branch-led application. For a new applicant, seeing an offer in Google Pay can remove some of the uncertainty around where to begin. Digital approval and virtual-card availability also allow eligible applicants to start using the card quickly for supported payments.

A practical first step into credit: Students and young professionals can use this product to begin a credit relationship with Axis Bank. The most important habit is not to spend more because a credit limit is available. Set up reminders or autopay for the total statement balance, keep utilisation sensible, and avoid carrying a balance merely to “build” a score. Interest and late fees can outweigh any reward earned.

Useful for small UPI payments: For someone who already uses Google Pay for everyday merchant payments, a compatible card can reduce friction at the checkout screen. This can be convenient for groceries, cafés and other eligible merchant transactions. Check the payment confirmation carefully, though. Not every QR code or transfer is necessarily an eligible merchant transaction, and reward treatment can differ by transaction category.

Axis Flex Google Pay credit card benefits

The base reward structure is uncompetitive compared with stronger UPI cards. Most of this card's value comes from its reward stars, and the rest is convenience. Here is what you get and what it is worth in rupees.

No joining or annual fee. The Google Pay Flex card charges nothing to hold, so a card you barely use costs you nothing.

Reward stars worth ₹1 each. You earn 1 Star for every ₹500 you spend, and 2 Stars per ₹500 if you spend ₹100 or more in the previous month. Apart from that, you can earn 4× Stars on spends over ₹15,000 and 8× on spends over ₹30,000.

Dining Benefit. Up to 15% off via EazyDiner, capped at ₹500 per month.

How to apply for the Google Pay Flex Axis Bank credit card

You apply for this card inside the Google Pay app. You don't need to visit a branch or fill in a paper form.

  • Open Google Pay on your phone and look for the Flex Axis Bank credit card offer in the app.
  • Tap apply and enter your basic details, such as your PAN, date of birth and income.
  • Google Pay passes these to Axis Bank, which checks your credit profile and decides whether to approve you and what limit to give you.
  • Axis will usually ask you to complete e-KYC with Aadhaar-based verification as part of this process.
  • If Axis approves you, the card is issued digitally and appears in your Google Pay app. You can start paying with it straight away through UPI.

Before you apply, check your CIBIL score. Each application triggers a hard enquiry on your credit report, and a rejection can pull your score down a few points. If your score is below roughly 700, work on improving it first rather than applying and hoping.

Monzy's verdict

Choose the card if you value a digital onboarding journey, want to start with a modest credit line, and have received a clearly stated lifetime-free offer in Google Pay. It can also make sense when your goal is to establish a relationship with Axis Bank rather than maximise cashback on every UPI payment.

Think twice if you already have a high-limit card, expect premium rewards, or want a card that replaces a strong cashback product.

A starter card like this can be useful when it is paid in full and used lightly. Small, planned purchases followed by complete repayment can help a new cardholder learn statement dates, due dates and utilisation.

But apply only if you plan to pay the full bill every month. The 3.75% monthly finance charge will cost you far more than the rewards this card earns.
