Things to Keep in Mind

Official Kotak source URLs were inaccessible due to Cloudflare Error 1015 (rate limited), so card facts could not be verified.

From 1 June 2025, reward earning is discontinued for wallet loading, online skill-based gaming, insurance, government, rent, education, fuel and railways.

Utility rewards are available only up to ₹35,000 per statement cycle.

Fuel is eligible for a surcharge waiver but is excluded from reward earning.

The ₹499 + GST/Nil joining and annual fee wording should be verified in the Key Fact Statement.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. It has no complimentary airport lounge visits. Its travel perks are a railway surcharge waiver of up to ₹500 a year and a fuel surcharge waiver of up to ₹3,500 a year.

₹25,000 on the card, ₹67 back

Put ₹25,000 on Kotak League Platinum in an ordinary month and you earn about 667 reward points. Kotak values its own joining gift of 5,000 points at ₹500, so one point is worth 10 paise. That month pays you about ₹67, or 0.27%.

This is the main thing to know before you accept the card. The "8X reward points" line on Kotak's page is real, but at 10 paise a point and a ₹150 spend unit, 8X works out to about 0.53%.

This page covers Kotak League Platinum. It is not the Kotak UPI RuPay Credit Card, which many Reddit threads mix in.

When 8 points per ₹150 kicks in

You earn 8 points per ₹150 in two cases:

  • Special categories: travel agencies, tour operators and airlines, plus electronics, durable goods and departmental stores.
  • Every eligible spend once you cross ₹2 lakh in a card-anniversary year.

Below ₹2 lakh, everything else earns 4 points per ₹150. Utility rewards stop after ₹35,000 a statement cycle. Since 1 June 2025, wallet loads, online gaming, insurance, government payments, rent, education, fuel and railways earn nothing.

A full year at ₹40,000 a month

Spend ₹4.8 lakh across the year:

  • First ₹2 lakh at 4 points per ₹150: about 5,333 points.
  • Next ₹2.8 lakh at 8 points per ₹150: about 14,933 points.
  • The ₹1,25,000 six-month milestone, counted once since our data does not say whether it repeats: 10,000 points, or 4 PVR tickets instead.

That is roughly 30,000 points, about ₹3,000 at Kotak's 10 paise value, or about 0.63% overall. Our notes also say statement cashback pays only 7 paise a point, with a 2,000-point minimum; this is not confirmed, so check before you rely on it.

Kotak League Platinum lounge access

There is none. The card has no complimentary domestic or international airport lounge visits, whatever older listings say. The travel extras are a railway surcharge waiver of up to ₹500 a year and a 1% fuel surcharge waiver of up to ₹3,500 a year. For lounge rules across banks, see our credit card lounge access guide.

"Lifetime free", in writing

The two loudest complaints in the sentiment report are about promises, not points. Users say telecallers called the card lifetime free and then ₹499 + GST showed up on a statement. Kotak's own page says the fee is "₹499 + GST / Nil", depending on the offer. Others say they accepted a lifetime free RuPay offer and were later told the RuPay version was not free, or were sent a Visa card. Kotak's League Platinum page does not list a RuPay variant.

Screenshot the offer, check the welcome letter for fee and network, and raise any mismatch before your first statement.

Our take on Kotak League Platinum

Accept it if Kotak offers it lifetime free and you have that in writing. It is an easy first card for building a credit history, and users keep it for Kotak bank discounts during big sales.

Do not pay ₹499 + GST for it, and do not make it your main card. Users who compare it with direct cashback cards almost always pick the cashback card.
