Frequently Asked Questions

No. The joining fee is nil, but the annual fee is ₹999 + GST from the second year, and we could not confirm a spend waiver.

Built for students paying fees and bills

RBL's MyFirst is for someone getting a first credit card who pays education fees or utility bills by card. Its best earn rate sits on exactly those two things, and it earns almost nothing on regular shopping.

One naming note: MyFirst is an RBL Bank card. It is not one of IDFC FIRST Bank's cards like FIRST Millennia or FIRST WOW, even though many search results mix them up. Zero forex, FD-backed approval and interest-free ATM cash are IDFC features, not MyFirst ones.

Why the ₹400 spend unit matters

MyFirst counts points per ₹400, not per ₹100. RBL's page, checked in October 2026, lists:

  • Education spends: 8 reward points per ₹400
  • Bill payments: 8 reward points per ₹400
  • Everything else: 1 reward point per ₹400

Cash, EMI, fuel, government, insurance, rent and wallet loads earn nothing. So a property tax payment or an insurance premium may not earn the 8X, even though it feels like a bill.

Here is what a semester looks like. ₹60,000 of tuition and ₹12,000 of electricity and phone bills earn 1,440 points (1,200 + 240). ₹20,000 of shopping earns 50 more. RBL does not state what a point is worth in our data, so we cannot put a rupee figure on that. RBL's own claim of "annual rewards worth ₹1,983+" comes with no calculation, so treat it as marketing.

The ₹999 question

There is no joining fee. The annual fee from year two is ₹999 + GST, about ₹1,179. We could not find a spend-based waiver for it, so ask RBL before the renewal posts.

The 2,000-point welcome needs you to pay the annual fee and spend ₹2,000 within 30 days. RBL says welcome points do not apply to first-year-free cards. The fuel surcharge waiver covers fills of ₹500 to ₹4,000, up to ₹100 a month.

Not many real reviews yet

We found no reliable Reddit discussion of RBL MyFirst. Our sentiment search returned IDFC FIRST threads instead, so we have not used it.

Should a first-timer pick MyFirst?

Only if you will put large education or bill payments on it every year. If you have no credit history, the FD-backed IDFC FIRST WOW is easier to get. If most of your spending is online, a cashback card earns more for a similar fee.
