Paytm AU Credit CardNo. Wallet loads are excluded from cashback on this card, along with fuel, EMI, rent and government payments.
This is the ₹500 Paytm card issued by HDFC Bank. It suits someone who pays recharges, utility bills and movie tickets through the Paytm app, and wants an easier way into HDFC than a direct application. If most of your spending happens outside Paytm, it does little for you.
Many people searching "Paytm credit card" mean the Paytm SBI Card, which is a different bank with different terms. HDFC has other Paytm-branded cards too, and AU issues its own Paytm card. Check the issuer and fee on your offer before you read any review.
Cashback is paid as CashPoints, in three buckets, each with its own monthly cap:
Wallet loads, fuel, EMI, rent and government payments earn nothing.
A typical month: ₹6,000 of bills and recharges through Paytm earns 180 CashPoints, ₹5,000 of other Paytm spends earns 100, and ₹15,000 elsewhere earns 150. That is 430 CashPoints on ₹26,000. HDFC presents these as percentage cashback, but our data does not state a CashPoint's rupee value, so check your statement before you treat them as ₹1 each.
The joining and annual fees are ₹500 + GST each. Spend ₹30,000 in the first 90 days, excluding EMI, and the first-year fee is waived. After that, ₹50,000 in 12 months waives the renewal, about ₹4,200 a month. There is also a 1% fuel surcharge waiver on fills of ₹400 or more, capped at 250 CashPoints per statement cycle. No lounge access.
The biggest worry users raise is what happens next. Some say holding a Paytm co-brand delayed or blocked their application for a core card such as HDFC Millennia until they closed it. Others describe a smooth move from a Paytm HDFC card to core cards. HDFC has not published a rule, so ask the bank before you apply and take a hard enquiry.
One user also reports being charged the ₹500 fee after blocking the card in MyCards, with no way left to pay it. If you close the card, pay the full balance, redeem your CashPoints and keep the closure confirmation.
Keep it if Paytm is where you pay your bills and you clear ₹50,000 a year. The 3% bucket is useful and the card costs nothing to hold.
If you want broad online cashback, users overwhelmingly prefer the Cashback SBI Card. If a core HDFC card is your real goal, plan the switch rather than collecting co-brands.
