Frequently Asked Questions

Standard Chartered Priority Banking customers aged 21 to 65 with a stable income, living in a city where SC issues cards. Ask your relationship manager for the current Priority Banking balance requirement.

Does it give you lounge access?

Yes, and that is the main reason to hold it. The Standard Chartered Priority Visa Infinite card gives you 4 domestic lounge visits every calendar quarter, used with the card itself at participating lounges in India, with no spend condition on SC's page. That is up to 16 visits a year.

International lounges work differently. You get 2 free Priority Pass visits a month only if your funds under management (FUM) with Standard Chartered are ₹30 lakh or more at individual level, and both your primary and supplementary cards were active that month. Without that, Priority Pass works at a charge. Using Priority Pass at Indian lounges is also chargeable, so use the card for domestic visits.

A note on the name: "Visa Infinite" is a network tier that many banks use, on both credit and debit cards. Threads about Visa Infinite offers in general are not reviews of this card.

Only for Priority Banking clients

SC reserves this card for its Priority Banking customers, aged 21 to 65. You cannot apply for it on its own. Our records show no joining or annual fee, and SC describes the privileges as complimentary for Priority clients. Confirm the fee on SC's tariff and ask what happens to the card if you leave Priority Banking.

Why the 5X overseas points rarely pay

The card earns 5 reward points per ₹100 on overseas spends and retail fashion, and 2 points per ₹100 on everything else. SC does not publish what a point is worth. Users in the sentiment report estimate the real return at 0.6% to 1.5%, which they find low for a Visa Infinite card.

Abroad, the 3.5% overseas transaction fee is the problem. On ₹1 lakh of foreign spend, you pay ₹3,500 in fees and earn 5,000 points. Unless each point is worth more than ₹0.70, the fee is bigger than the reward. Foreign websites billed from overseas count too, and overseas-registered merchants billing in India add 1%.

The insurance is worth more than the points

The travel cover is the part of this card with clear value:

  • ₹1 crore air accident cover.
  • USD 25,000 overseas medical cover, with a USD 100 deductible.
  • Up to USD 750 per item for lost baggage, USD 200 for flight delay, and USD 100 each for baggage delay and hijacking.

Read the policy wording before you rely on any of it.

The movie offer is Visa's, not SC's

The most praised perk in the report, a buy-one-get-one on BookMyShow and District, is a Visa Infinite network offer. Users say it is worth up to ₹300 off on weekend bookings, but the daily quota can run out within minutes of the midnight reset. Visa can change or end it at any time.

Is it worth keeping?

If you are already an SC Priority client and pay no fee, yes, as a backup card for domestic lounges and travel insurance. Pay in full, though: interest is 3.75% a month, or 45% a year.

It is not a card for your main spending. Users who want real rewards prefer the HDFC Infinia, and movie-goers point to BOB Eterna. Users also report slow service and worry about Standard Chartered's retail plans in India; that is sentiment, not a bank announcement. More on how lounge programmes work in our lounge access guide.
