Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, with conditions. Domestic visits need ₹75,000 of spend in a quarter to unlock 2 visits the next quarter, and you get 3 Priority Pass international visits a year.

Who Zen Signature is really for

Zen Signature suits someone who already banks with Kotak, is offered it lifetime free and wants a high-limit backup card with a few international lounge visits. It also works for people who spend regularly on clothes, lifestyle stores and jewellery. If you would pay ₹1,500 + GST a year and spend lightly, most users say it loses you money.

Many people do not apply for Zen; Kotak moves them onto it. Relationship managers pitch it as an upgrade from Kotak Royale Signature, and users say Myntra Kotak cardholders were offered Zen when that card was discontinued. Before you accept, ask whether the offer is lifetime free or only first-year free.

What 10 points per ₹150 is worth

All rates are per ₹150, and users value a Zen point at about 20 to 25 paise.

  • Apparel, lifestyle goods, departmental stores and jewellery: 10 points, about 1.3% to 1.7%.
  • Everything else: 5 points, about 0.7% to 0.8%.
  • Total points are capped at 6,500 per billing cycle, about ₹97,500 of shopping-category spend.

Two milestones help: 7,500 bonus points at ₹3 lakh of annual spend and 7,500 more at ₹6 lakh. A ₹3 lakh year of mostly ordinary spends earns about 10,000 points plus the first milestone, so about 17,500 points, or ₹3,500 to ₹4,400. That covers the fee, which is waived anyway once you cross ₹1.5 lakh of retail spend.

Users also report a 2,000-point minimum to encash points against your statement. Redeem before you close or downgrade, or a small balance can be lost.

The June 2025 rules that cut the earn

From 1 June 2025, Kotak changed what earns:

  • Wallet loads, fuel, rent and online skill-based gaming earn nothing, and do not count toward milestones.
  • Education and insurance earn only on the first ₹70,000 per statement cycle.
  • Utilities earn on the first ₹50,000, and government payments on the first ₹40,000.

Categories follow the merchant code, so a jewellery shop that codes as something else will earn the lower rate.

"No spend criteria for lounges" is out of date

Some Kotak sales staff still pitch Zen as a free lounge card, and users have been caught out. Since 1 June 2025, domestic lounges work like this: spend ₹75,000 in a quarter and you get 2 visits in the next quarter. International access is easier, with 3 Priority Pass visits a year and no spend condition stated. Ask Kotak how the Priority Pass is issued.

The card is listed on Visa. Users mention a RuPay Select version for upgrade customers, but we do not hold its terms, so confirm earn rates and lounges are the same before you choose it.

Monzy's take on Zen Signature

Keep Zen if it is lifetime free: the high limit, Priority Pass visits and Kotak sale discounts make it a fair second card. Users say Kotak retention sometimes converts it to lifetime free when you ask to close over the fee.

Pay for it only if you spend at least ₹1.5 lakh a year, ideally with a chunk on apparel or jewellery. If you are choosing within Kotak, compare it with the Kotak White Credit Card. For tips on getting the fee reversed, see our fee waiver guide.
