Frequently Asked Questions

No. It costs ₹350 + GST a year, waived if you spent ₹50,000 or more in the previous year. Users report agents wrongly selling it as lifetime free.

EaseMyTrip card or SC Smart?

Both cards come from Standard Chartered, and the choice between them is simpler than it looks. The EaseMyTrip card is worth holding only if you book flights or hotels on EaseMyTrip a few times a year. If you mostly shop online and want flat cashback, users lean to the Standard Chartered Smart card. One Reddit user even asked whether the Smart card could use the EaseMyTrip card's promo code. It cannot be assumed; the discounts are tied to this card and the code EMTSCB.

What the card still gives you

After the 2024 cuts, here is what is left, per Standard Chartered's page:

  • Flat 10% off flights on EaseMyTrip, up to ₹1,000 on domestic and ₹5,000 on international bookings.
  • Up to 20% off hotels on EaseMyTrip with code EMTSCB. Our record shows two different caps, ₹5,000 and ₹10,000, so check the offer page before you book.
  • 10 reward points per ₹100 on standalone airline and hotel websites, apps and outlets, and 2 points per ₹100 elsewhere.
  • 2 domestic lounge visits per calendar year.

International lounge access ended on 15 October 2024. Users who took the card as a cheap Priority Pass now have a reason to rethink it.

A ₹40,000 trip, worked out

Say you book a ₹40,000 international return flight on EaseMyTrip. The 10% discount would be ₹4,000, inside the ₹5,000 cap. That alone is about ten times the yearly fee.

The catch users keep raising: EaseMyTrip's convenience fees and base fares can be higher than the airline's own site, so the real saving is smaller. Compare the final price before you pay. Users also report the discount vanishing at checkout, and our record does not say why. Count it only when it shows in the final amount.

Points will not add much on that booking. The 10x lane is for standalone airline and hotel sites, so an EaseMyTrip booking may earn only 2x; one thread is titled "EaseMyTrip wrong MCC". At the ₹0.25 a point our record uses, 2x is about 0.5%.

Not lifetime free, whatever the agent said

The fee is ₹350 + GST a year, about ₹413, waived if you spent ₹50,000 in the previous year. Several threads describe agents selling the card as lifetime free, and one user was billed on a card never activated. If you were promised LTF, raise it in writing with Standard Chartered and keep screenshots. If you do not want the card, close it before the renewal date.

The forex markup is 3.5% per our record, so use a different card abroad.

How EaseMyTrip stacks up for you

Get it if you book on EaseMyTrip a few times a year, compare final prices, and will spend ₹50,000 a year so the fee disappears. Skip it if you want a travel card for abroad or one that works across booking sites; users prefer the AU ixigo card for its lifetime-free terms and zero forex.
