Frequently Asked Questions

Enter your purchase amount, 18% interest and the tenure from 3 to 12 months, then add the 1% processing fee and the 18% GST that users report on the interest and fee. A ₹60,000 purchase over 12 months comes to about ₹7,800 extra.

Who this card is for

The YES Bank EMI Credit Card is for someone who knows a few big purchases are coming and will not be able to pay them in full. Large eligible purchases convert to EMIs on their own, so you do not have to call the bank each time. If you pay your bill in full every month, this card has almost nothing to offer you.

It is a YES Bank credit card, not the Bajaj Finserv Insta EMI Card, which is a separate financing product.

What auto EMI costs in rupees

EMIs on this card carry 18% interest and a 1% processing fee, over 3 to 12 months. Users report that 18% GST is charged on the interest and the fee, as on other card EMIs, so the example below includes it.

Take a ₹60,000 phone over 12 months:

  • Monthly EMI: about ₹5,501
  • Interest: about ₹6,010
  • Processing fee: ₹600
  • GST on both, as users report it: about ₹1,190

That is roughly ₹7,800 on top of the price. A ₹30,000 purchase over 3 months costs about ₹1,420 extra. You can run the same numbers for your own purchase with any EMI calculator, using 18% and a 1% fee.

Why 18% can still be the cheaper option

If you leave part of your bill unpaid, the revolving interest is 3.99% a month, roughly 48% a year. Next to that, an 18% EMI is the smaller cost. That is the honest case for this card: it stops a large purchase from turning into expensive revolving debt. It is not free money.

Before your first big purchase, find out three things that our data does not show: the amount that triggers auto conversion, whether you can opt a purchase out, and the pre-closure charges.

The 1% that skips your EMI spends

The cashback is 1%, capped at ₹500 a month, and only on transactions that are not converted to EMI. You hit the cap at ₹50,000 of non-EMI spend in a month. Older listings mention 3% on YES Cart; that offer is not on the bank page now.

The fee is ₹499 + GST for the first year and each renewal, for cards issued from 28 August 2024. The bank page we checked shows no fee waiver. To earn back ₹589 at 1%, you need about ₹58,900 of non-EMI spend a year. There is also a 1% fuel surcharge waiver up to ₹250 per statement cycle. No lounge access and no UPI.

Monzy's verdict on the EMI card

Get it only if you expect to finance large purchases and want the conversion to happen without effort. It will cost you less than revolving at 48%.

Everyone else should pick a cashback card and pay in full. The Cashback SBI Card is one option to compare, and if your big purchases happen on Amazon, look at Amazon Pay ICICI.
