Frequently Asked Questions

Not the Mastercard version. It lists no airport lounge benefit, whatever a sales call may have said.

A ₹20,000 month on a free card

Put ₹20,000 of everyday spends on the IndusInd Platinum Mastercard and you earn 200 Reward Points. The card earns 1.5 points per ₹150, which is the same as 1 point per ₹100. Redeem those points for vouchers or catalogue items at ₹0.50 each and the month is worth ₹100. Take them as statement credit at ₹0.40 and it is ₹80.

Over a year that is ₹960 to ₹1,200 back on ₹2.4 lakh of spend, a 0.4% to 0.5% rate. The card costs ₹0 to join and ₹0 a year, so all of it is yours. It is just not much.

Several IndusInd cards carry the word "Platinum". This page is the Mastercard only, not the IndusInd Platinum RuPay, which works on UPI, and not the EazyDiner IndusInd Platinum dining card. Check the network logo on your offer.

Where the value has gone

IndusInd has cut this card back in steps:

  • 1 October 2022: the BookMyShow offer ended.
  • 1 January 2024: non-cash redemption set at ₹0.50 a point, airmiles excluded.
  • 1 March 2024: cash redemption set at ₹0.40 a point.
  • 1 September 2024: cash redemption capped at 2,500 points a calendar month.

Fuel earns no points at all; you only get a surcharge waiver capped at ₹100.

Redeem once, not often

Users across IndusInd's Platinum cards report a fee of about ₹149 + GST per cash redemption. Our bank data does not list it, but if it applies, cashing ₹400 of points loses over a third of the value. Let points build, and prefer non-cash options, which are worth more per point anyway.

The sales call

Many people get this card from a phone pitch promising "premium benefits". The free part is true. Users report callers mentioning lounge access and cashback; this card lists neither. The welcome gift applies only on a "select fee plan", so a free card may come without one.

Keep it, or look elsewhere?

Keep it if it is free, you pay in full every month, and you want an IndusInd relationship for bank sale-day offers or a later upgrade. Look elsewhere if you want real rewards; a 1% flat cashback card earns double. For UPI, IndusInd's own RuPay version is the better pick. First card? See first-time credit card picks.
