Yes. Joining and annual fees are both ₹0 and there is no spend condition to keep it free.

IndusInd Platinum RuPay, the short version

  • It is lifetime free: ₹0 to join, ₹0 a year, no spend target.
  • It earns 2 Reward Points per ₹100 on UPI and 1 per ₹100 on other spends. Users who cash out say that works out to about 0.7% on UPI.
  • The two catches users raise most are a cash redemption fee and trouble getting a second IndusInd card later.

Searching for "RuPay Platinum credit card"? Several banks use that name. This page is IndusInd's card only, not PNB's, HSBC's or the Union Bank RuPay Platinum. None of them share terms.

What a point is actually worth

This is where the card gets murky. Our records note that IndusInd revised non-cash redemptions to 1 point = ₹0.60 from 15 December 2024, airmiles excluded. Users who redeem as statement credit report about ₹0.35 a point instead. Cash redemption is also capped at 2,500 points a calendar month from 1 September 2024.

Here is a normal month at the lower, user-reported value:

  • ₹10,000 at kirana stores, chai stalls and restaurants by UPI QR: 200 points.
  • ₹5,000 swiped on the card: 50 points.
  • Total: 250 points, about ₹88 at ₹0.35 each.

That is roughly ₹1,050 a year. Fine for a card that costs nothing, but it is not a cashback engine. Fuel earns no points at all; you get only the 1% surcharge waiver.

The redemption fee users report

The most repeated complaint, across 5 or more threads, is a cash redemption fee that users put at ₹149 + GST per request. It is not on the bank page we checked, so confirm it in the MITC. If it applies, cashing out 500 points (about ₹175) leaves you almost nothing. Let the balance build for several months, then redeem in one go.

Before you take it as your first IndusInd card

Many existing IndusInd customers get this card in minutes by splitting their current limit. Users like that. The trouble comes later. Several threads describe being rejected for IndusInd Tiger or EazyDiner because IndusInd already sees a card in their name. If Tiger or EazyDiner is the card you really want, apply for that one first.

Splitting a limit also shrinks the headroom on your main IndusInd card, so check the new split before you accept.

Does it give lounge access?

"RuPay Platinum credit card lounge access" is searched often, but IndusInd lists no lounge benefit on this card. The other listed extras are ₹2.25 lakh of travel insurance and the fuel surcharge waiver. Forex is 3.5%, so keep foreign spends elsewhere.

Our take on the IndusInd Platinum RuPay

Take it if you already bank with IndusInd, want a free RuPay card for small UPI payments, pay in full every month, and have no plans for Tiger or EazyDiner. It does that job without costing anything.

Skip it if you want cashback that lands with no fee and no portal, or if a better IndusInd card is on your list. Users weighing it up usually end up comparing it with Kiwi and Tata Neu Plus HDFC.
