Things to Keep in Mind

Essentials 3X rewards are capped at 300 reward points per month.

6X LIC rewards apply only when premium is paid on licindia.in.

Rewards are not applicable on fuel, rental, non-LIC insurance, EMI transactions, and cash withdrawals.

Hotel/flight bonus reward articulation on the page appears inconsistent; verify detailed T&Cs before valuation.

The page states hotel and flight bookings can earn up to 38% reward points, while the detailed section specifies a 20% hotel bonus and an 8% flight bonus; detailed booking terms should control.

Fuel waiver transaction limits conflict: visible product text states ₹200–₹5,000, while embedded structured data states ₹200–₹500.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, 1 domestic airport lounge visit and 2 railway lounge visits a quarter. Users mention a monthly spend rule for the airport visit, so check the current terms before you travel.

Is "6X" on LIC Classic the same as 6% back?

No, and this is the first thing to get straight. IDFC FIRST defines 1X on its LIC cards as 1 reward point per ₹125, with each point worth ₹0.25 (confirmed on the LIC Select page; we assume the same for Classic). So 6X on LIC premiums is 6 points per ₹125, which works out to about 1.2%. Users who did the maths land on the same figure.

That is modest. What you get for it is a card with no joining fee and no annual fee, and the 6X lands straight from LIC's own site without any voucher workaround.

A naming note: this is IDFC FIRST's LIC Classic, a co-brand with LIC. It is not the FIRST Classic Card from the same bank, and not Axis Bank's LIC Platinum or Signature cards.

Your premium, in rupees

At about 1.2%:

  • ₹25,000 premium: 1,200 points, about ₹300.
  • ₹50,000 premium: 2,400 points, about ₹600.
  • ₹1,00,000 premium: 4,800 points, about ₹1,200.

The 6X applies only when you pay on licindia.in. Users say premiums paid through third-party apps and aggregators miss the accelerated rate, and other insurers' premiums earn nothing. Check your next statement after paying; a ₹50,000 premium should show around 2,400 points.

The rest of the card, briefly

  • Essentials (grocery, utilities, railways, FASTag, education, government): 3X, about 0.6%, capped at 300 points a month.
  • Other spends: 3X, about 0.6%.
  • Hotels and flights booked in the IDFC FIRST Mobile App: our record shows 45 and 20 bonus points per ₹125, but IDFC's page words this bonus inconsistently, so check the detailed terms before you rely on it.
  • Nothing on fuel, rent, non-LIC insurance, EMI or cash withdrawals.

You also get 1 domestic airport lounge visit and 2 railway lounge visits a quarter, a 1% fuel surcharge waiver up to ₹200 a month, and welcome benefits IDFC values at ₹3,000. Users mention a monthly spend rule for the airport lounge, but our data does not give the amount.

IDFC FIRST scheduled feature and terms changes from 18 June 2026, and we could not confirm what changed. Read the current terms before you apply.

Classic or LIC Select?

Both are free. LIC Select pays 10X on LIC premiums (about 2%) and 5X elsewhere, with twice the lounge visits. On a ₹1 lakh premium, that is about ₹2,000 against Classic's ₹1,200. If IDFC offers you Select, take it.

Where LIC Classic fits, and where it does not

It fits if you pay LIC premiums on LIC's site, want a free card with no workarounds, and would use a couple of railway lounges a quarter.

It does not fit if you want the best return on a big premium. Users say buying Amazon Pay gift cards with a cashback card like SBI Cashback returned closer to 5%, though SBI changed that card in April 2026, so check the current rules first.
