Things to Keep in Mind

Rewards on LIC premium only when paid through licindia.in.

Rewards exclusions include fuel, rental, non-LIC insurance, EMI transactions, and cash withdrawals.

From 18 Jan 2026, if minimum amount due is unpaid by due date, reward points are not applicable for that cycle and can be reversed.

Fuel waiver transaction range conflict within source payload: ₹200–₹500 (JSON-LD) vs ₹200–₹5000 (visible page text).

Travel rewards wording is inconsistent between percentage bonus claims and per-₹125 bonus RP lines on the same page.

Reward points are valid for three years from the date of earning.

Frequently Asked Questions

Users report ₹20,000 in a calendar month unlocks lounge visits for the next month. IDFC's page in our check lists the visit counts but not this rule, so confirm it in the current terms.

One LIC month on Select

Say your annual LIC premium of ₹60,000 falls due this month, and you also put ₹20,000 of groceries, bills and shopping on the card. Here is what LIC Select earns:

  • ₹60,000 premium paid on licindia.in at 10X: 4,800 points, worth ₹1,200.
  • ₹20,000 of other spends at 5X: 800 points, worth ₹200, as long as the essentials share stays within the 600-point monthly cap in our record.

That is ₹1,400 back in one month on a card with no joining or annual fee. The numbers rest on IDFC FIRST's own rule, confirmed on its page: 1X means 1 point per ₹125, and a point is worth ₹0.25. So 10X is 2% and 5X is 1%, not the 10% and 5% the labels suggest.

Spend that ₹20,000 matters for another reason too. Users report that lounge access now needs ₹20,000 of spend in a calendar month to unlock the next month's visits.

A naming note: this is IDFC FIRST's LIC co-brand. Many Reddit threads about "IDFC Select" are about the FIRST Select card, a different product with different rewards.

The 10X only works one way

IDFC ties the 10X rate to premiums paid on licindia.in. Users say paying through PhonePe, Paytm, Amazon Pay or other biller apps does not earn it, and premiums for other insurers earn nothing.

One more rule worth knowing before a big premium: from 18 January 2026, if you miss the minimum due on time, you get no points for that cycle and points can be reversed. On a ₹1 lakh premium, that is ₹2,000 gone for one late payment.

What else you get

  • 5X on essentials (grocery, utilities, railways, FASTag, education, government), capped at 600 points a month in our record, and 5X on other spends.
  • Bonus points on hotels and flights booked through FIRST Rewards Gallery, on top of base points. Our record shows 45 and 20 per ₹125, but IDFC's page also describes these as 20% and 8%, which does not match, so check the detailed terms before you rely on either.
  • 2 domestic airport and 4 railway lounge visits a quarter.
  • 1% fuel surcharge waiver, up to ₹300 a month. Our record shows a ₹200 to ₹5,000 transaction range, but IDFC's page data conflicts, so confirm it.
  • Points last three years, and can be redeemed against LIC premiums.

Users complain that Amazon Pay vouchers have left the rewards catalogue and mention redemption fees. Check what is on offer before you build up a large balance.

The short answer on LIC Select

Get it if you pay LIC premiums of ₹25,000 or more a year on LIC's own site. A free card that returns 2% on them, with no voucher workarounds, does its job well.

Look elsewhere if you want more than 2% on insurance. Users cite up to 5% in NeuCoins with Tata Neu Infinity HDFC through the Tata Neu app. If IDFC offers you only LIC Classic, know that it pays 6X, about 1.2%, with half the lounges.
