Frequently Asked Questions

Our records show a one-time ₹10,000 + GST, about ₹11,800, and no annual fee. IndusInd's product page does not list it, so confirm it in the MITC or your offer letter.

Should you pay ₹10,000 to upgrade to Nexxt?

For most people, no. That is the question most Nexxt threads on Reddit ask, because the card usually arrives through a phone call offering an "upgrade", often from IndusInd Legend, for a one-time joining fee of ₹10,000 + GST.

Here is what you get for that money. Nexxt has no annual fee after joining, earns 1 Reward Point per ₹150, and has physical buttons that let you pick Credit, EMI or Rewards at a store terminal. That is a low earn rate for a card that costs about ₹11,800 up front. The fee does not appear on IndusInd's product page, so ask for it in writing before you agree.

This page covers Nexxt only. It is not IndusInd Legend or Pinnacle, which come up in the same calls but have different fees and benefits.

The buttons, explained

The card has push buttons with small LED lights. Before you tap or insert it at a store POS, you press one:

  • Credit: a normal card payment.
  • EMI: turns the purchase into instalments, at a card EMI rate shown as 12% (IndusInd can revise it). Merchant EMI rates can differ.
  • Rewards: pays using your points at participating merchants.

The buttons only work in stores. Online payments, phone and IVR orders, Samsung Pay and ATM withdrawals go through as normal credit. Users split evenly: four threads like the buttons, four call them a gimmick. Both are right. They change how you pay, not how much you earn.

What 1 point per ₹150 adds up to

₹1,50,000 of spending earns 1,000 points. IndusInd does not publish a rupee value per point for Nexxt, so we will not quote a percentage, but five threads call the earn rate the card's main weakness. Points do not expire. Since 1 September 2024, you can convert at most 2,500 points a month to cash, so a large balance takes months to cash out.

The extras are small: buy-one-get-one on BookMyShow for up to two tickets a month, capped at ₹200 a month in total, and a 1% fuel surcharge waiver. No lounge access is listed, and the forex markup is not stated.

Before you say yes on the phone

  • Ask for the joining fee, GST and voucher list by email or SMS. Users report vouchers that were restrictive, lower in value or never arrived, while the GST was charged anyway.
  • If you hold Legend free, most users say keep it.
  • One holder notes that a card you do not activate within 30 days is cancelled automatically, which is a clean way out if one arrives unasked.

The bottom line on IndusInd Nexxt

Nexxt is fine if you already have it, or if IndusInd waives the joining fee in writing. The buttons are a neat way to choose EMI in a shop, and there is no yearly fee to worry about.

It is a poor buy at ₹10,000 + GST. If you want a free IndusInd card, users mention IndusInd Bank Tiger as a lifetime-free option to start with. More background on the sibling card: IndusInd Legend review.
