Frequently Asked Questions

Same issuer, fee and network, but HDFC shows different cashback for each. Mobile pays 0.5% on retail; Digital pays 1%.

Is the Paytm Mobile card free?

Almost. Our record lists a ₹149 + GST joining and annual fee, and both are easy to wipe out. Spend ₹1,000 on non-EMI purchases within 30 days and the first-year fee is waived. Spend ₹25,000 on non-EMI purchases in a year, about ₹2,100 a month, and the renewal fee is waived too. HDFC's Mobile product page does not print the fee amount itself, so confirm it on your offer screen.

This card sits very close to the Paytm HDFC Bank Digital Credit Card: same bank, same ₹149 fee, same Visa network. Our records treat them as one product. HDFC's pages, though, show different cashback, so the grid below is the Mobile version.

Cashback that mostly lives inside Paytm

  • 2% on Paytm Mall, Paytm Movies and Paytm Mini Apps, capped at ₹250 a month.
  • 1% on other Paytm spends, capped at ₹250 a month.
  • 0.5% on other retail, capped at ₹500 a month. Fuel, EMIs, rent and government payments earn nothing here.

So ₹1,000 a month is the most it can pay. A month with ₹3,000 of movie tickets and Mini App orders, ₹4,000 of other Paytm payments and ₹10,000 elsewhere earns ₹60 + ₹40 + ₹50, which is ₹150.

The weak spot is the 0.5% outside Paytm. The Digital grid pays 1% there, double this one. If your offer shows the Mobile grid and most of your spend is outside the Paytm app, it is worth asking HDFC whether the Digital version is available to you. You also get up to 20% off at Dineout partner restaurants. There is no lounge access.

What users say about Paytm cards like this

Our sentiment report mixes Paytm cards from HDFC, SBI and AU, and is thin on this exact card. The HDFC points that repeat: approval is easy for beginners, Paytm co-brands are often left out of HDFC's instant discounts in big sales, and users report that holding a Paytm HDFC card can slow down a later core HDFC application.

The verdict on Paytm Mobile

Take it if you need a first card and spend mostly on Paytm Mall, movies and Mini Apps. It costs almost nothing to keep. If you spend mostly outside Paytm, users say SBI Cashback pays far more, with 5% across online merchants, and users comparing entry cards also preferred the lifetime-free Amazon Pay ICICI.
