Frequently Asked Questions

Users report that Paytm SBI co-brands are usually excluded. Check the eligible-card list in each sale's terms.

₹35,400: the number that decides it

Paytm SBI Card SELECT costs ₹1,499 + GST, about ₹1,769 a year. Its best rate is 5% on Paytm Travel. To earn the fee back from that alone, you need roughly ₹35,400 of bookings on Paytm Travel in a year, close to ₹3,000 a month.

If you book that much travel on Paytm, the card works. If you do not, you are paying for perks you will not use, and users on Reddit say exactly that.

This is the SELECT tier from SBI Card. It is not the ₹499 Paytm SBI Card, and it is not the Paytm HDFC Bank Select, which is a different bank.

What the card pays

SBI's product page confirmed these rates in October 2026:

  • 5% on Paytm Travel bookings.
  • 2% on other purchases in the Paytm app.
  • 1% on all other eligible spends.

Neither our record nor SBI's page states a monthly cap on these, so do not assume the 5% is unlimited. Users also report that cashback on Paytm wallet loads and UPI payments has been cut or removed. The card is Visa in our record, and credit card UPI needs RuPay anyway.

A realistic month: ₹5,000 of Paytm Travel, ₹3,000 of other Paytm purchases and ₹15,000 elsewhere earns ₹250 + ₹60 + ₹150, so ₹460. That is about ₹5,520 a year if no cap bites.

The extras that justify the fee

The SELECT tier adds what the base card lacks:

  • 4 domestic lounge visits a year.
  • A two-year Priority Pass membership, worth US$99. Our record does not say how many visits are free, so treat it as membership only.
  • A welcome benefit of Paytm First membership plus reward points worth ₹750.
  • Milestone vouchers: ₹2,000 at ₹4 lakh and ₹4,000 at ₹6 lakh of annual spend. SBI does not say whether both can be earned in the same year.
  • A 1% fuel surcharge waiver on fills of ₹500 to ₹4,000, up to ₹250 a cycle, and ₹2 lakh cyber fraud cover.

The renewal fee is waived if you spent ₹2 lakh in the previous year.

Why users close it, and what SBI offers when they try

The biggest complaint in our sentiment report is that Paytm SBI co-brands are left out of SBI's 10% instant discounts on Amazon and Flipkart. Users also say SBI rarely raises co-brand limits on its own.

There is a twist, though. Several users report that when they called SBI to close the card, they were offered a fee waiver or lifetime-free status instead. That is a user report, not a policy. If you are thinking of closing, ask what retention offer is available before you confirm.

Monzy's verdict on Paytm SBI SELECT

Get it if you book travel through Paytm every month and will use the four lounge visits. With ₹3,000 or more of Paytm Travel monthly, the fee pays for itself.

Skip it if you mostly shop online. Users overwhelmingly preferred SBI Cashback for flat cashback across sites, and the free Amazon Pay ICICI for simple cashback with no fee at all.
