Cashback SBI Card₹500 + GST, the same as the joining fee. It is waived if you spend ₹1,50,000 in the membership year.
Say you put ₹6,000 of groceries and ₹8,000 of other shopping on the RBL ShopRite card in a month.
That is 1,080 points. RBL does not publish a rupee value per point, but its own "up to 5% value back on groceries" line implies about ₹0.25 a point. So the month is worth roughly ₹270 on ₹14,000 of spend, about 1.9%. The grocery part alone is about 4.2% (₹250 on ₹6,000), because the cap fills at ₹5,000. Above that, extra grocery spend earns no bonus points.
This is the biggest complaint about the card. Users report a ₹99 + GST fee every time you redeem points on RBL Rewards. Redeem 1,000 points worth about ₹250 and roughly ₹117 goes to the fee and tax. Several Reddit threads put the real grocery return near 3% once conversion and the fee are counted.
The fix is simple: let points pile up and redeem once or twice a year. 12,000 points redeemed in one go loses under 5% to the fee. Monthly redemptions lose close to half.
RBL excludes cash withdrawals, education, EMI, fuel, government payments, insurance, rent, utilities and wallet loads. So no electricity bill rewards and no rent rewards on this card. Fuel does get a 1% surcharge waiver on fills of ₹500 to ₹4,000, up to ₹100 a month.
The extras are small but real:
Be careful with agent flyers. Users report third-party sales agents sharing posters with lounge access and cashback figures that the card does not have. Check the RBL product page before you trust any extra perk.
The joining and annual fees are ₹500 + GST each. RBL waives the annual fee if you spend ₹1,50,000 in the membership year, about ₹12,500 a month, which is a high bar for an entry card. Many users say they got ShopRite lifetime free through promotional channels such as Paytm. If that is your offer, get it in writing.
Apply if you can get it lifetime free, spend around ₹4,000 to ₹5,000 a month on groceries, and are happy to redeem once a year. Then it is a cheap grocery card with some RBL sale discounts on top.
Skip it if you will pay the fee and redeem often, or if you want cashback that lands on your statement without a redemption step. Users who compare it most often prefer the HSBC Live+ Credit Card for groceries. See our roundup of grocery credit cards for more options.
