Tata Card SELECT

Frequently Asked Questions

Users use "Tata Star", "Tata Titanium" and "Tata Card" for the same ₹499 SBI card. Tata Star Platinum is a separate product.

The ₹499 Tata card, next to the ₹2,999 SELECT

SBI issues two Tata cards that are not Tata Neu cards. This page is the base one: the Tata Card, also sold as the Tata Titanium or Tata Star Titanium card, at ₹499 + GST a year. Its bigger sibling, Tata Card SELECT, costs ₹2,999 + GST and adds lounge visits and ₹3,000 vouchers.

The quick difference:

  • Tata Card: 1 Empower Point per ₹100 on most spends, 2 per ₹100 on dining, grocery and departmental stores, 3X at Croma (1.5% value back), and up to 5% value back at select Tata outlets. No lounge access.
  • Tata Card SELECT: 3X on dining, grocery, departmental and international spends, 2% back at Croma, 8 domestic lounge visits a year, and voucher milestones.

If you shop at Star Bazaar or Croma and do not need lounge visits, the base card is the cheaper fit. If you are searching for Tata Neu Infinity or Tata Neu Plus, those are different cards that earn NeuCoins.

Can you still get Tata?

In our October 2026 check, the Tata Card's product page returned an error, and tatacard.com offered Apply links only for Tata Card SELECT and Tata Star Platinum. SBI has not announced that the card is discontinued, but treat it as possibly not open to new applicants. If you already hold one, nothing changes until SBI tells you.

If an agent offers you "the Tata card" today, ask for the exact card name and fee in writing before you share documents.

Where it still pays

The card is at its best inside Tata stores. Users report about 3% to 3.5% back at Star Bazaar, and Croma pays 1.5% value back per Tata's own figures. Tata's page only states value back for its own outlets and gives no rupee value for an Empower Point, so we do not convert the other rates.

There is one data conflict to know about. Our earn grid shows 2 points per ₹100 on grocery and departmental stores, while Tata's benefit copy says 3X. Check one statement before you plan around either number.

The fuel surcharge waiver is 1% on fills of ₹500 to ₹3,000, up to ₹100 per statement cycle. One Tata headline says ₹4,000; the benefit terms say ₹3,000.

Redeeming without losing value

Users report a ₹100 + GST fee each time you redeem Empower Points, about ₹118. Redeem once or twice a year in one batch. Several users also say staff at Tata stores such as Tanishq or Westside are not sure how to process points, so check your balance on the Tata Card portal and keep a screenshot before you go.

Many holders keep this card mainly for SBI sale discounts on Amazon and Flipkart. Users report that Tata SBI cards often qualify, though some sales have excluded them. Read each sale's eligible card list.

Is Tata a keeper?

Keep it if the fee is waived (₹1 lakh a year, about ₹8,300 a month) or if you shop at Star Bazaar and Croma every month. Close it before renewal if you spend below ₹1 lakh and rarely visit a Tata store, because you will pay ₹589 a year for 1 point per ₹100.

If you are choosing a new card, look elsewhere: HSBC Live+ pays more on groceries and dining, and the Tata Neu cards cover Tata's digital brands with UPI.
