Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. The SBI card comes on Visa or RuPay, and only the RuPay version earns 1% NeuCoins on UPI.

Tata Neu Plus SBI in three lines

  • It costs ₹499 + GST, gives 499 NeuCoins back when you join, and SBI reverses the fee once you spend ₹1 lakh in a card year.
  • It pays 2% NeuCoins on Tata Neu brands, up to 7% on select categories, and 1% on everything else, including UPI on the RuPay version.
  • It is a decent low-fee card if you shop on BigBasket or Tata 1mg, and a letdown if you applied for Infinity and SBI handed you this instead.

HDFC also sells a Tata Neu Plus card with the same name and different UPI rules. This page is the SBI card.

Tata Neu Plus RuPay: UPI at a flat 1%

Many people search for the RuPay version specifically, because that is the one that works on UPI. On this SBI card, UPI spends earn 1% in NeuCoins, the same as other everyday spends, and our record states no monthly UPI cap. The Visa version earns nothing on UPI, so pick RuPay on the application if you plan to scan QR codes with it.

Users like it for exactly this: everyday UPI at shops plus the occasional Westside or BigBasket order, all on one card.

What a modest year earns

Say you spend ₹5,000 a month on BigBasket and 1mg and ₹10,000 on everything else:

  • Tata spends at 2%: ₹100 a month.
  • Other spends at 1%: ₹100 a month.

That is about ₹2,400 a year in NeuCoins, and at ₹15,000 a month you also cross the ₹1 lakh reversal, so the card costs nothing from year two. If your purchases fall in Tata Neu's select categories, the extra 5% can push those orders to 7%.

Cash advances, card fees, rent, government and education payments, Flexipay and balance payments earn nothing.

Lounges and forex

You get 1 domestic lounge visit a quarter, but only after spending ₹50,000 in the previous quarter. There are no international lounge visits, and our records show a 3.5% forex markup. This is not a travel card.

When Plus is enough, and when to push for Infinity

The Tata Neu Infinity SBI Card costs ₹1,000 more and pays 5% on Tata brands and 1.5% elsewhere. That extra covers the fee gap once your Tata spend passes about ₹3,300 a month with GST counted, or your other card spend passes about ₹2.4 lakh a year.

Below that, Plus is the cheaper way to earn NeuCoins. Above it, ask SBI through the app about an upgrade after 6 to 12 months of on-time payments, or apply for Infinity fresh. Users report low starting limits of ₹22,000 to ₹40,000 on Plus, so use it steadily and request a limit increase before big Tata purchases.

If sale discounts are why you want an SBI card, users have asked whether Plus qualifies. Each sale sets its own eligible card list, so check before you rely on it. For plain online cashback, SBI Cashback is what users pick.
