Frequently Asked Questions

No. The joining fee is ₹0, but ₹1,999 + GST is charged every year from year two unless a waiver applies.

Who Union Bank Visa Signature is really for

This card suits one kind of person: someone who already banks or borrows with Union Bank of India, wants a single plain card that pays about 1% back, and does not mind going to the branch for service. If you want a smooth app, lounge access you can count on, or rewards that beat 1%, look elsewhere.

Searching for the HDFC, Axis or SBI Visa Signature card? Visa Signature is a network tier that many banks use, so those are different products with different fees and rewards. This page covers only Union Bank's credit card, not Union Bank's Visa Signature debit card either.

What 4 points per ₹100 is really worth on Union Bank Visa Signature

You earn 4 reward points per ₹100 spent, and Union Bank values each point at ₹0.25. That is ₹1 back per ₹100, a flat 1%, checked on the bank's page in October 2026. There are no bonus categories, no online multiplier and no milestone.

Fuel does not earn extra. It gets a 1% surcharge waiver, capped at ₹100 per billing cycle, which covers roughly ₹10,000 of fuel a billing cycle.

The ₹1,999 question

There is no joining fee. From the second year you pay ₹1,999 + GST, about ₹2,359. At 1% back:

  • ₹1 lakh a year on the card earns ₹1,000, so you are down about ₹1,359 after GST.
  • ₹2 lakh earns ₹2,000, still slightly short.
  • ₹3 lakh earns ₹3,000, a small gain.

Our older dataset says the fee is waived at ₹1 lakh of yearly spend. If that is true, the card is free in any year you cross ₹1 lakh. Union Bank's page does not state it, so ask the branch to confirm it in writing before you plan around it.

Lounges and insurance: read the small print

"Does Union Bank Visa Signature have lounge access?" is a common question. The honest answer: not on the record we checked on Union Bank's page. An older dataset lists 8 domestic visits, but we could not confirm it, so do not apply for lounges alone.

The ₹30 lakh accident insurance sounds generous, but Union Bank's own note says the premium is paid by the cardholder. It is cover you can buy, not cover you get free.

What users run into

Users rate the 1% fair. The complaints are about the bank: a branch visit and a detailed paper form to apply, including a hand-written list of your other cards and limits, an unreliable app with delayed SMS alerts, and credit limit increases that need written requests sent to head office. Most of these threads are about Union Bank in general rather than this card, so read them as an issuer pattern.

Should you take it?

Take it if your branch offers it, you will spend ₹1 lakh or more a year on it, and the waiver is confirmed. It is a dependable plain card for a Union Bank customer.

Skip it if you want a digital-first card. Users most often weigh it against the ICICI Bank Coral Credit Card for its app and sale offers. Within Union Bank, the Union Unicorn RuPay Credit Card is the sibling to compare if you want UPI.
