Frequently Asked Questions

No international lounge visits are listed in our data. Domestic visits need ₹40,000 of spend in the previous quarter.

Visa Imperio in a minute

  • Visa Imperio is Federal Bank's middle core card, lifetime free in our data, sitting above Visa Signet and below Visa Celesta.
  • It pays 3X points on healthcare and groceries, 2X on utility bills and 1X on everything else.
  • Domestic lounges are no longer free: you need ₹40,000 of spend in a quarter to unlock 2 visits in the next one. No international lounges are listed.

Federal Bank's Imperio page was blocked when we tried to check it in October 2026, so every figure here comes from our card database. Confirm them on your offer letter. Imperio is also unrelated to IDBI's similarly named Imperium card.

Where the 3X actually lands

Imperio's best category is the one most cards ignore: pharmacies, hospitals and groceries. That makes it a reasonable card for a family's monthly medicine and grocery bill. Utility bills get 2X.

What we cannot tell you is how much that is worth. Our data does not say how many points 1X is per ₹100 or what a point is worth, so we do not publish a return rate. Users in our report call the core rewards weak, so do not expect much.

One practical catch: a hospital that bills through a generic payment gateway may not code as healthcare, and then earns 1X. Check before a large payment.

The ₹40,000 lounge rule

This is the change users complain about most, in 6 threads. Spend ₹40,000 on the card in a quarter, about ₹13,300 a month, and you unlock 2 domestic lounge visits in the following quarter. Miss it, and next quarter has none. Several holders say they stopped using the card or thought of closing it after the rule came in.

For comparison, Federal's Visa Celesta Credit Card needs ₹60,000 a quarter for domestic visits but gives 2 international visits a year with no spend rule.

Offered Imperio when you wanted Celesta?

Users describe applying for Celesta and receiving Imperio or Signet instead, and others receiving Imperio as a pre-approved offer. One shared offer letter mentions a limit of up to ₹2 lakh; another user reports ₹75,000. Users tie Celesta approval to an existing limit of about ₹4 lakh, though Federal publishes no rule. Check the card name before activating.

Also note: users say Federal allows only one of its own cards at a time, so holding Imperio may block a later Scapia application. Our record shows Imperio as lifetime free, but the bank page was not checked, so confirm the fee on your offer.

Why people keep it anyway on Visa Imperio

The most common praise, in 7 threads, is Federal Bank's recurring discounts on Swiggy, Zomato, BookMyShow and Cleartrip, with good savings during Cleartrip travel and hotel sales. Users hold Imperio as a zero-cost card for sale days. The FedMobile app gets complaints for loading errors when you try to manage card controls.

Keep Imperio, or pass?

Take it if it is free for you, you buy groceries and medicines on card, and you shop during bank sales. Spending ₹40,000 a quarter on it brings domestic lounges along.

Pass if lounges are the point. Users who want lounges without spend gates prefer IDFC FIRST Wealth, and for UPI on credit you need a RuPay card such as Federal's Rupay Signet Credit Card.
