Frequently Asked Questions

RBL's product page was live with an Apply option on 19 October 2026. HDFC's card of the same name was discontinued, so confirm with RBL before you apply.

Is RBL Platinum Edge still available?

As far as we can see, yes. RBL Bank's product page for Platinum Edge was live on 19 October 2026 with current fees, benefits and an Apply option. The confusion comes from the name. HDFC Bank had a Platinum Edge card that is no longer issued, and American Express sells a Platinum Edge in Australia. Neither has anything to do with this card. Because RBL's page does not explicitly confirm applications are open, check with RBL before you rely on it.

This is also not RBL's Platinum Max or Platinum Maxima.

A ₹2 lakh card

Nearly everything on Platinum Edge turns on ₹2 lakh of yearly spend, about ₹16,700 a month. The fee is ₹1,999 + GST, roughly ₹2,359, and RBL reverses the next year's fee once you cross ₹2 lakh. Along the way you pass the first milestone: 10,000 points at ₹1.5 lakh, then 5,000 more for each extra ₹1 lakh.

A year at exactly ₹2 lakh looks like this:

  • 4,000 base points (2 per ₹100)
  • 10,000 milestone points
  • No fee for the following year

RBL does not publish a fixed point value. Its own benefits table implies about ₹0.20 a point, so 14,000 points are worth roughly ₹2,800. Online spends earn 4 points per ₹100, but the bonus is capped at 1,000 points. Each redemption day costs ₹99 + GST, so redeem once a year.

Below ₹1.5 lakh, the card earns about 0.4% and you pay the full fee. That is a poor deal.

The lounge is earned, not given

Older listings say "complimentary airport lounge access across India". RBL's actual rule is one domestic visit a quarter, only if you spent ₹35,000 in the previous calendar quarter, and rent does not count. There are no international lounges.

The other perks are small but real: a 1+1 BookMyShow ticket worth up to ₹200 once a month, and a fuel surcharge waiver of up to ₹100 a month on fills of ₹500 to ₹4,000. Fuel, rent, utilities, insurance, education, wallets, government, EMI and cash earn no points.

We have no usable Reddit sentiment on this card yet, so nothing here comes from user reports.

Monzy's take on Platinum Edge

It makes sense if you put ₹2 lakh or more a year on one card, spend ₹35,000 a quarter anyway and use BookMyShow monthly. Then the fee comes back and the milestones pay you.

If you spend much less, skip it. A free card or a simple cashback card will return more, and World Safari is the better RBL pick if you travel abroad, since this card's forex is 3.5% in our data.
