ACE Credit CardSBI does not publish a fixed limit for Shaurya, and users note that SBI can share one limit across all your SBI cards.
The Shaurya SBI Card is for defence and paramilitary personnel who shop regularly at CSD canteens. It costs ₹250 + GST a year and pays its best rate on canteen, grocery, departmental store, dining and movie spends. Outside those five categories it earns very little.
This page covers the ₹250 Shaurya card. The Shaurya Select SBI Card is a separate product with a ₹1,499 annual fee, so check which name is on your offer letter.
SBI's product page does not state a point value. If a point is worth 25 paise, SBI's usual statement-credit value, 5X is about 1.25% and the base rate is about 0.25%. Our notes mention a monthly cap on 5X points, but it is not on SBI's product page, so confirm it in the MITC before a very large canteen month.
Say you put ₹10,000 a month on CSD, groceries and dining, and ₹80,000 across the year on everything else, with points at that assumed 25 paise:
That is roughly ₹1,700 a year. Your ₹2 lakh of spend also clears the ₹50,000 renewal waiver, so the ₹250 fee does not come back. In the first year, the 1,000 welcome points you get after paying the fee are worth about ₹250 at that value, which covers the fee before GST.
Take the canteen spend away and the same ₹2 lakh earns about ₹500.
There is no airport lounge access, and users report the usual 3.5% forex markup. Five threads in the sentiment report say this is a real gap for personnel who travel or are posted abroad. The card does have a 1% fuel surcharge waiver on fills of ₹500 to ₹3,000, up to ₹100 a cycle, and a ₹2 lakh personal accident cover on RuPay cards. Because it is RuPay, you can link it to UPI, though no extra UPI reward is listed.
The other common complaint is about SBI, not Shaurya: physical KYC, slow approvals and credit limits shared across SBI cards come up in 8 threads.
Carry it if you are eligible, shop at the canteen most months, and want a cheap SBI card that users say also works for SBI's festive sale discounts.
Pair it with something else for the rest of your spending. Users preferred the Cashback SBI Card for online spends, and lean towards Axis Pride if lounge access matters.
