Frequently Asked Questions

Federal's page listed no joining or annual fee in October 2026. A March 2026 Reddit thread says new Celesta cards cost about ₹3,000 with a spend waiver, so check your offer.

Visa Celesta vs Mastercard Celesta and Signet

Federal Bank sells Celesta on both Visa and Mastercard. In our data the two carry the same fees, reward multipliers, 2% forex, lounge rules and welcome voucher. The difference that matters to you: we checked this Visa version on Federal Bank's own site in October 2026, while the Mastercard Celesta page was blocked when we tried. Network-level offers can differ, so pick the network your usual merchants favour. Neither can be linked to UPI.

The sibling you are more likely to end up with is the Visa Signet Credit Card, one tier below. More on that below.

This is not IndusInd Bank's Celesta Credit Card, a premium card with a ₹25,000 joining fee.

What the Visa card gives you

  • Fee: Federal's page lists it as lifetime free, with no joining or annual fee.
  • Rewards: 3X points on travel and international spends, 2X on dining, 1X on everything else. Federal does not state the base points or point value in our data, so we do not convert this into a percentage.
  • Forex: 2%, lower than the 3.5% most cards charge, though not zero.
  • International lounges: 2 visits a year, no spend rule.
  • Domestic lounges: spend ₹60,000 in a quarter, about ₹20,000 a month, to unlock 2 visits in the next quarter.
  • Welcome: a ₹600 Amazon Pay voucher if you spend ₹10,000 in the first 30 days.
  • Movies: an INOX buy-one-get-one offer once a month.
  • Fuel: a 1% surcharge waiver, cap not stated.

Is it still free for new applicants?

A March 2026 Reddit thread about a devaluation of Federal Bank's core cards says Celesta now costs about ₹3,000, waived on ₹30,000 of spend in the first 3 months, with ₹3 lakh needed to waive the next year's fee. That conflicts with what Federal's page showed us in October. Read the fee on your offer before you apply, and keep a screenshot.

Getting Celesta, not Signet

Seven threads describe applying for Celesta and receiving Signet or Imperio instead, without being asked. Users say Federal gives Celesta only when you already hold a credit limit of around ₹4 lakh. That is user-reported, not a published rule. One user who applied for the Visa variant says they were approved with a ₹4 lakh limit and still got a different card.

Check the card name in the welcome kit before you activate, since activation usually counts as acceptance. Users also report that holding Federal's Scapia card blocks Celesta unless you close Scapia and wait about 90 days.

Monzy's take on Visa Celesta

Apply if you have a high existing limit, fly abroad once or twice a year, and want two free international lounge visits plus Federal Bank's sale-day discounts. As a free card, it is easy to keep in the drawer for trips.

Look elsewhere if you want zero forex, where users pick Scapia, or broader lounge access on a free card, where users generally prefer IDFC FIRST Wealth.
