Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, AU calls both lifetime free. Optional features cost ₹49 to ₹499 per 90 days and auto-renew until you switch them off.

This page covers ABC Nxt and ABC Flex, two AU Small Finance Bank cards issued with Aditya Birla Capital and sold on one page. They are not ABC Biz, which charges ₹49 a month, or ABC Pro.

The catch is in the word "free". Both cards are lifetime free, but AU lets you switch on paid features that run for 90 days, cost ₹49 to ₹499 each, and renew on their own unless you turn them off. Used on purpose, that is a free card you can upgrade for one quarter. Left alone, it is a free card that bills you every 90 days.

Features that renew themselves

Here is how the paid add-ons work, from AU's page:

  • You pick features in the ABCL app or AU's login portal and pay when you opt in.
  • Each one lasts 90 days and auto-renews by default.
  • Some carry a spend target. Zee5 needs ₹5,000 in 90 days, Amazon Prime ₹10,000 and Cult Fit ₹20,000. Miss it and AU charges ₹50, ₹100 or ₹200.

AU does not print a price for each feature, and our bank-page check found that some accelerated rewards and benefits sit behind them. Before you count on Ola cashback or lounge visits, open the app and see what is actually active on your card.

What 6X means in rupees

Points are earned per ₹200: 6 on utilities, grocery and education, 4 online, 2 offline. They double on retail spend above ₹50,000 in a calendar quarter. AU does not publish a point value; users of other AU Rewardz cards report about ₹0.20 to ₹0.25.

Take a quarter with ₹24,000 on bills and groceries, ₹24,000 online and ₹12,000 offline. Before the quarterly doubling, that is 720 + 480 + 120 = 1,320 points, roughly ₹264 to ₹330 on ₹60,000, or about 0.45% to 0.55%. AU's wording does not make clear how much of the spend above ₹50,000 gets doubled, so the real figure may be a little higher. Modest, which is why the zero fee carries this card.

Fuel, rent, insurance, jewellery, EMI, cash and BBPS payments earn nothing. Redemption needs 200 points and costs ₹99 + GST each time, so let points pile up before you cash out.

Nxt or Flex: is there a difference?

AU's page does not state one. It only says each comes in Visa and RuPay versions, and UPI works on the RuPay one. Ask AU which card you are being offered before you accept. Users of other AU cards also report that AU generally allows one credit card per customer.

Is ABC Nxt or Flex worth it?

Get it if you want a no-fee card for bills and groceries and you will manage features deliberately: switch one on for a quarter you will use it, and turn off auto-renewal the same day.

Skip it if you want everything included with nothing to manage, or a steady higher reward rate. AU's own LIT card uses the same pick-your-features model without the Aditya Birla tie-up. We have no real user feedback on this card yet, so treat early reviews with care.
