Union Bank of India cards are simple, and that is mostly a good thing. Almost all of them run on RuPay, so they link to UPI. Most earn 2 or 4 reward points per ₹100, and on several cards a point is worth ₹0.25. So the real return is about 0.5% or 1%. Do not expect more.
That means the fee decides the card. Take the Union Bank RuPay Platinum. It earns 0.5%, so ₹30,000 a year brings back about ₹150. The ₹350 + GST fee is waived in year one, and after that it is not charged if you used the card for ₹30,000 in the previous year, about ₹2,500 a month. Clear that and the card costs nothing.
The step up is RuPay Select. This is Union Bank's own card, not the RuPay Select network tier printed on other banks' cards. It earns 4 points per ₹100, about 1%, so ₹20,000 a month earns 800 points, or ₹200. Our records list the fee at ₹550, which Union's page does not confirm. Ask for the Key Fact Statement before you apply.
One more thing people get wrong: older listings often show the wrong fee. Union Unicorn RuPay costs ₹2,400 + GST, not ₹499, and NEXTERIA costs ₹12,499 + GST and is not lifetime free.
If you refuel at HPCL, Union UNI-CARBON is the card to look at. On ₹3,000 a month of HPCL fuel in ₹500+ fills through the HP Pay app, you get about ₹120 in points, ₹30 of surcharge waiver and ₹45 in HP Pay points: about ₹195, or 6.5%. The 4% layer stops at ₹150 a billing cycle, reached at about ₹3,750 of fuel. It is not the YES Bank UNI card. Compare more in our fuel credit cards directory and our RuPay credit cards guide.
Lounge access is where Union's cheap cards punch above their fee:
RuPay Platinum mentions lounge access but no visit count, so confirm with the branch. See other banks in our lounge access directory.
Users describe applications as offline and slow, often at a branch with paper forms. Some were asked to list every card they already hold, with limits. Carry PAN, address proof, income proof and your existing card statements, and ask for a reference number.
Not on standard terms in our records. RuPay Platinum comes closest: its fee is waived in year one and after any year with ₹30,000 of use.
Users mostly report applying at a branch with paper forms, so ask your branch whether an online route is open for your profile. Our Union Bank issuer guide covers eligibility.
Yes. RuPay cards such as RuPay Platinum, RuPay Select and NEXTERIA link to UPI apps for merchant payments.
No. City Union Bank is a different bank, and this page covers only Union Bank of India cards.
Users say limits rarely grow without a written request and income proof, so submit both at your branch.
This is my honest read, not formal financial advice. Union's listed fees and benefits vary by source, so check the Key Fact Statement before you apply.
