811 Dream Different Credit Card
Kotak Mahindra Bank
Joining Fee:₹500/yr
Kotak credit cards are easy to get and easy to get confused by. A caller says "lifetime free", a WhatsApp says zero fee, and then a ₹750 or ₹3,000 charge shows up on your first statement. This page sorts Kotak's 18 current cards by what you actually spend on, works out the rupees each one pays back, flags the caps and fee traps, and ends with one pick for each kind of spender.

One pattern runs through almost every Kotak card we track: the "lifetime free" promise that turns out not to be. Users report it on Cashback+, League Platinum, Air+, IndiGo, White and PVR INOX. An agent or a WhatsApp message offers the card free, and the fee arrives anyway. So get "lifetime free" in writing from an official Kotak channel, read the fee line on the Key Fact Statement, and check your first statement.
After that, judge Kotak cards on the cap per statement cycle, because that is where the maths turns. Cashback+ pays 5% on food delivery, groceries and OTT and 3% on fuel, but both share a 750-point cap. On ₹10,000 of those categories, ₹5,000 of fuel and ₹10,000 of other spends, you earn ₹700 a month, or ₹8,400 a year, against a fee of ₹885 with GST.
IndianOil Kotak earns 24 points per ₹150 at IndianOil, but the 1,200-point fuel cap fills at ₹7,500 a month; above that, extra fuel earns nothing. ₹60,000 of fuel a year clears the ₹50,000 waiver on its ₹449 fee.
What people miss: after Kotak's latest cut on 1 June 2025, wallet loads, rent, insurance, education, government payments and fuel earn nothing on League Platinum, Kotak 811 and UPI RuPay. If rent is your big bill, no Kotak card rewards it much. Our Kotak credit card guide covers the bank side.
League Platinum earns 4 points per ₹150, about 0.27% below ₹2 lakh a year, and 8 points after that. Kotak lists its fee as "₹499 + GST / Nil", depending on the offer. It is a fine side card when free in writing; do not pay ₹499 for it. It has no lounge access. Our League review has the detail.
Among cards you can simply apply for as a resident, IndiGo Kotak XL at ₹3,000 + GST is the cheapest whose lounge access Kotak confirms has no spend condition: 8 domestic visits a year. Air+ gives 4 domestic and 2 Priority Pass visits. Zen Signature needs ₹75,000 of spend a quarter for domestic visits, and users report a ₹50,000 quarterly gate on White Reserve. The base IndiGo Kotak card's lounge access is not confirmed, so do not buy it for lounges. Compare banks in our lounge access directory.
The Kotak UPI RuPay card is lifetime free and works in UPI apps, but at 3 points per ₹100 it earns about 0.3%, so ₹1 lakh a year earns about ₹300. Users report UPI linking failures. Treat it as a free way to pay, not a way to earn. With no credit history, 811 #DreamDifferent gives a limit of up to 90% of a Kotak FD of ₹10,000 or more, with a ₹500 joining fee from 1 September 2026. More free cards in our lifetime free credit cards directory.
Apply on the card's page on Kotak's website, or accept a pre-approved offer in the Kotak app if you get one. Check the fee on the KFS and get any lifetime free promise in writing.
Kotak Cashback+ is the best for most people who order food and groceries online and buy fuel, at ₹750 + GST a year. For a first card, pick 811 #DreamDifferent; for a free UPI card, Kotak UPI RuPay.
No. Its travel perks are a railway surcharge waiver of up to ₹500 a year and a 1% fuel surcharge waiver of up to ₹3,500 a year.
It depends on the card. Cashback+ points become statement credit through Kotak Unbox at ₹1 each, Air+ miles pay for Unbox flights and hotels at ₹1 each, and IndianOil Kotak users report redeeming by calling customer care.
This is my honest read, not formal financial advice. Kotak changes terms, so check the KFS and MITC before you apply.
