Standard Chartered Credit Cards (2026): Fees, Caps and the Move

Choosing a Standard Chartered credit card in 2026 can feel unsettling. Part of the card book is moving to Federal Bank, offers have been trimmed, and users report sudden limit cuts. You still want a card that pays you back without surprises. This page helps you judge each card on its fee, its cap and its catch, and tells you what the migration means before you apply.

My honest take on Standard Chartered credit cards

First, the move. Per our migration explainer, Standard Chartered is moving up to 4.5 lakh card accounts to Federal Bank after 31 July 2026, mainly customers who hold only a card and no wider banking relationship. Reward points transfer, but the conversion ratio has not been published. So value points at what you can redeem today.

Then judge each card on three numbers:

  • The cap. SC Smart pays 2% online up to ₹1,000 a month and 1% elsewhere up to ₹500. The most it can pay is ₹1,500 a month. Pay a ₹2 lakh premium in one month and you get ₹1,000, not ₹4,000.
  • The fee. SC Ultimate costs ₹5,000 + GST, about ₹5,900, every year with no spend waiver, but credits 6,000 points worth ₹6,000 on the joining fee.
  • The point. Ultimate's 5 points per ₹150 at ₹1 a point is 3.33%. Put ₹40,000 a month on ordinary spends and ₹10,000 on utilities and groceries at 2%, and you earn about ₹1,533 a month, ₹18,400 a year. That needs a catalogue you use; users report Amazon and Croma vouchers leaving it.

What people miss is the limit. Users report sharp limit cuts without notice, so keep a second card for large bills.

Standard Chartered Smart credit card vs DigiSmart

Smart is flat cashback for ₹499 + GST, with the renewal reversed on ₹1.2 lakh of spend in the previous year. Users hold it because it still earns 2% on school fees, insurance and NPS paid online; the bank does not name those categories, so check the merchant code. Users also report a ₹2,500 floor before you can redeem.

SC DigiSmart earns nothing on ordinary spends. It charges ₹49 + GST a month, reversed when the next calendar month's spend is above ₹5,000. Spend ₹2,000 a month and you pay about ₹694 a year for capped partner discounts on Blinkit, Zomato, INOX and Yatra. For plain cashback elsewhere, see our cashback credit cards.

Super Value Titanium credit card benefits

Super Value Titanium pays 5% on fuel at any pump brand, plus phone and utility bills paid through SC's bill pay, capped at ₹500 per statement cycle in total. Fuel earns only on fills of ₹2,000 or less, so a single ₹2,500 fill earns nothing. With the surcharge waiver gone since August 2024, users put the real fuel return near 3.9%. The fee is ₹750 + GST, about ₹885. Compare pump-brand cards in our fuel credit cards list.

Standard Chartered credit card lounge access

  • Ultimate: 4 domestic visits a quarter; 1 Priority Pass visit a month only if you spent more than ₹20,000 the previous month.
  • [Priority Visa Infinite](https://monzy.co/cards/priority-visa-infinite-credit-card): 4 domestic a quarter; 2 Priority Pass visits a month only with ₹30 lakh of FUM.
  • [SC Rewards](https://monzy.co/cards/rewards-credit-card): 1 domestic visit a quarter.
  • [EaseMyTrip](https://monzy.co/cards/easemytrip-credit-card): 2 domestic a year; international ended on 15 October 2024.

Smart has no lounge access. Other banks are in our lounge access directory.

Frequently asked questions

What happens to my Standard Chartered credit card in the Federal Bank migration?

Per our migration explainer, if yours is in the portfolio, the account, limit, balance and points move to Federal Bank. Declining does not stop the move; it only means no replacement Federal Bank card is issued.

How do I redeem Standard Chartered credit card points?

Through the rewards section of SC netbanking, for vouchers, catalogue items or hotel options. Compare points needed with the rupee value first.

How do I close a Standard Chartered credit card?

Redeem your points first; users say closing early can forfeit them. Pay the full balance, including any fee, and get a written no-dues letter.

Is the Standard Chartered Smart credit card lifetime free?

No. The fee is ₹499 + GST, with the first year waived for new SC customers and the renewal reversed on ₹1.2 lakh of spend. More in our Standard Chartered issuer guide.

This is my honest read, not formal financial advice. Confirm fees and points with the bank before you apply or redeem.
